Buying a second-hand vehicle?
Unless you’re a mechanic, it’s hard to tell whether you’re getting good bang for your buck – and whether there are underlying issues that could affect the vehicle’s performance.
But, with a pre-purchase inspection from one of our qualified mechanics, you’ll get everything you need to make an informed decision.
Engine. Tyres. Interiors. History.
Our mobile examiners will check it all in under an hour at any location of your choice.*
You’ll walk away with peace of mind about your purchase – or save thousands of dollars by detecting a dodgy vehicle before you buy.
Either way, a pre-purchase inspection is an investment worth making.
*Within our service area.
Financial Interests
Is the vehicle owned in whole or part by a third party like a lender?
Police Reports
Has the vehicle been stolen or involved in a crime?
Has the vehicle been written off with the Department of Transport and Main Roads?
Does the vehicle’s odometer reading match its documentation and condition?
Getting a potential purchase inspected is as simple as it looks.
If the vehicle is located on private property, please coordinate with the seller to make sure our examiner has safe, unobstructed access to the vehicle at the scheduled inspection time. The vehicle should also be reasonably clean so our examiner can perform a proper inspection.

Pay
After your inspection is complete, pay by cash, card or BNPL.
Every pre-purchase inspection has 2 stages: a 99-point visual inspection and a road test.
Here’s what our examiners check your potential purchase for.
(Exact checks vary from vehicle type to vehicle type.)
Once we’ve checked and tested the vehicle, we’ll issue a comprehensive, on-the-spot report so you can make an informed decision.
Our examiner will explain their findings and provide their opinion about whether you should move forward with the purchase.
As an optional extra, we can also conduct a vehicle history check.
While our examiner inspects the vehicle, a team member in our head office will undertake the history check and send a digital report to your email address.

Selling a Vehicle or Moving to Queensland?
If you’re transferring your vehicle’s registration, you’ll need a safety certificate or COI, not a pre-purchase inspection.
A mechanical inspection has 2 components: a visual inspection and a diagnostic scan that uses specialised equipment to test various systems. Between them, your examiner will be able to detect most major problems – but some will only surface once the vehicle’s turned on or driven at certain speeds.
These can range from defects like excessive exhaust noise to potentially dangerous problems like overworn transmission components. Our examiners are all qualified mechanics who’ve driven and worked on thousands of vehicles. For them, a road test can be an invaluable diagnostic tool, which is why it’s included in all our pre-purchase inspections.
Yes, it’s often a good idea to get a vehicle history check, especially if you’re buying from a private seller. A vehicle history check can help you identify whether:
Our vehicle history checks also typically include first sale information and an estimated valuation based on the make, model, and odometer reading.
That information matters because, if the vehicle is stolen or the property of someone else, you could have it repossessed – without getting your money back. If a vehicle has been written off or its odometer tampered with, it could have hidden structural damage that will severely affect its resale value.
Keep in mind that a Queensland rego check (available for Android and Apple) is not the same as a vehicle history check. A rego check is a freely available service provided by the Queensland government. A vehicle history check is much more comprehensive and includes information from the QPS and PPSR databases.
Our pre-purchase inspections typically take 45–50 minutes. For some larger or more complex vehicles, such as performance cars, inspections may take longer.
